London Internship: The William Morris Society
William Morris (24 March 1834- 3 October 1896) was a revolutionary force in Victorian Britain whose work dramatically changed the fashions and ideologies of the era. As a craftsman, designer, poet, printer, socialist, novelist, and environmentalist, Morris was not only influential in his own time, but his legacy remains alive and important today. An intern will get the chance to support a small team at Morris' historic house/ museum. The museum has 1300 items in its collection. The museum team hosts exhibitions and talks. It produces members' magazines (3 yearly) and academic journals (peer-reviewed, 2 yearly). Students can be involved in curation (assist the curator with cataloguing items, CRM system, high-level CMP), conservation (learn about environmental control), social media, contribute/ write for members' magazine, assist with academic journals, support monthly talks, and more.
